Purim celebration in Migdal JCC was in full swing for three days. Having
fulfilled all Purim commandments — reading Megilat Esther, sharing
shelokhmones, etc. — a diverse program consisting of games, song marathon,
the merriest contests and festive tables proceeded. On the third day the
marathon moved to Beitenu center. All the participants of the newly opened
Beitenu in Odessa celebrated Purim for the first time in their lives. Looking
forward to the holiday, the children decorated their second home with great
enthusiasm and then produced their own purimshpiel. For almost all of them
those were their first steps on the stage, as well as first “practical”
experience in Judaism. Jewish Students' club prepared personal presents for
each kid, which made the Beitenu participants feel part of a big and friendly
Jewish family.
“Migdal Or”
Migdal JCC has always been enthusiastic about sharing its professionalism and
achievements with other communities of South Ukraine. On March 15-23,
“Migdal Or” theatre visited five regional cities with its new concert
program and shared its masterpiece dances with about 4,000 people. “Migdal
Or's” new program entitled “Exodus” is quite anew and includes modern
Jewish music and dances. In addition to the sparkling performance, master
classes were held by “Migdal Or's” professionals for renewal programs'
participants.
March 23. “Migdal Or” theatre's concert in Odessa was devoted to Migdal
Or's 13th anniversary and capped off its guest tour to the regional cities.
“Migdal Or” displayed parts of its new program proving once again that
Jewish music is alive, has the future, and is constantly developing.
Beitenu
During a week of spring holidays (March 21-28) children from Beitenu had a
day camp held under the motto “tour of museums”. In order to develop the
children's outlook, engage them in activities and organize their time in an
attractive way, the schedule was thoroughly worked out. It included visiting
the exhibition devoted to Anna Frank, the local Literary museum and Shorashim
Jewish museum. In the latter one the children had an opportunity to perform
the roles of researches and guides. That was seen by Migdal's management as a
good beginning of partnership relations between Beitenu and Shorashim.
